General Introduction

In 1982, Tianjin Cancer Center opened an inpatient unit specifically dedicated for children with cancer. Since that time, the pediatric oncologists and specialists have forged new paths in cancer therapy for children. The Children’s Cancer department is home to one of the largest multidisciplinary pediatric cancer care programs in the nation caring for approximately 2,000 children a year. Because our primary focus is cancer, we see more types of cancer than any other children’s hospital in China.

Now there are 38 beds for children and adolescents with cancer in the in-patient unit, Nearly 5,000 out-patients visit the department each year. Among which 2,000 are admitted in the in-patient unit, and about 300 operations have been performed in the past five years.
